Key control has shifted from Satoshi Nakamoto to a decentralized six-person model. New token listings remain a key focus for the broader crypto market.

According to ChainCatcher, last week marked the first time in three years that the Bitcoin Core development team added a new trusted key maintainer. The developer, known by the pseudonym TheCharlatan, has become the sixth keyholder with commit access to the main branch, joining Marco Falke, Gloria Zhao, Ryan Ofsky, Hennadii Stepanov, and Ava Chow. At least 20 members of the GitHub developer community agreed to the promotion, with no opposition. The nomination comments described TheCharlatan as a reliable code reviewer, having worked extensively in key areas of the codebase, and as someone who carefully considers the needs of both users and developers, with a deep understanding of the technical consensus process. TheCharlatan graduated from the Department of Computer Science at the University of Zurich, focusing on reproducible builds and Bitcoin Core validation logic. Since Bitcoin's inception in 2009, control of the keys has evolved from an individual (Satoshi Nakamoto) to the current decentralized model managed by six individuals.
