Derived from Bitcoin.com, a pilot project in El Zonte, El Salvador, will launch the world’s first physical Bitcoin banknote ATM network on January 1, 2026. The Satnotes El Zonte Experiment will dispense 500 satoshi-denominated banknotes, backed 1:1 by Bitcoin via the RSK DAO and secured with dynamic QR codes, UV strips, and Schnorr signatures. The locally built smart ATM at Bitcoin Beach HQ will allow users to access notes without seed phrases, cell phones, or fees. The project is open-source, compliant with El Salvador’s Bitcoin Law, and funded through a Geyser fundraiser closing on November 30, 2025. A franchise competition for Salvadoran ATM builders is also underway, with bids due by November 15.
