Based on HashNews, Swiss bitcoin-focused investment app Relai has become the latest crypto asset service provider to receive approval under the EU’s MiCA regulatory framework. The French Financial Markets Authority (AMF) announced on its official website that it has issued a MiCA license to Relai. Relai co-founder and CEO Julian Liniger expressed pride in being among the first bitcoin companies to obtain the MiCA license, with plans to expand first in France and then across Europe. Founded in 2020 and headquartered in Zurich, Relai focuses on buying and saving bitcoin, emphasizing user control over assets. The MiCA license allows Relai to offer compliant bitcoin investment services, including SEPA payment support and increased euro transaction limits. The approval marks a major milestone for the platform and a breakthrough for the broader European bitcoin industry, according to Relai EU co-founder Adem Bilican. The license aligns with Relai’s roadmap, which included plans announced during its $12 million Series A funding in late 2024. Notably, another major crypto platform, Blockchain.com, had just received a MiCA license from the Maltese Financial Services Authority the day before.
