Apple's annual developer conference, WWDC 2026, will open next week. Based on current disclosures and media leaks, Apple's focus this year remains on AI, particularly the new version of Siri, as well as the expansion of Apple Intelligence across the camera, image generation, and system levels.
Siri may soon adopt an independent form
Based on current information, Apple aims to evolve Siri from a traditional voice assistant toward a more AI-driven assistant. The new version of Siri is expected to enhance contextual understanding, multi-step task handling, and cross-app collaboration. TechCrunch notes that this version may leverage certain capabilities from Google Gemini to improve its response to complex requests.
In addition to upgrades to the built-in system assistant, Bloomberg’s previous report also suggested that Apple may be preparing to launch a standalone Siri app. This could mean that Siri’s role may no longer be limited to a system-level interface, but instead directly compete with chatbot products such as ChatGPT, Claude, and Gemini.
App Store or connect to an AI agent
The Information previously reported that Apple plans to integrate AI agent capabilities with the App Store. Details are still incomplete, but such agents typically can perform specific tasks on behalf of users, such as booking services, managing daily errands, editing documents, or controlling smart home devices.
The report also mentioned that Apple may add an option to automatically delete conversations, allowing users to choose deletion after 30 days, one year, or indefinite retention. This design aligns more closely with the usage patterns of current mainstream AI chat products.
Camera, images, and wallet sync automatically.
In addition to Siri, Apple may introduce new AI features across several native apps. The Camera app is reportedly set to add a “Visual Intelligence” section, replacing the previous entry point tied to the camera control button, along with a dedicated Siri mode. This feature will use image recognition to identify objects captured by the user.
Image Playground is also expected to be updated, with improvements including enhanced image generation quality, expanded artistic styles, better character consistency, and richer editing options. The interface may be simplified simultaneously, introducing an editing method that allows users to describe changes. Meanwhile, Apple may also introduce Genmoji suggestions based on user media and text interactions, as well as an AI-powered wallpaper feature.
The wallet app is also one of the potential focus areas for this update. Rumored new features include bill splitting, allowing users to initiate payment requests by photographing receipts and sending them to different parties. Wallet may also add a “Create a Pass” option to convert physical vouchers—such as movie tickets, concert tickets, or gym memberships—into digital passes.
Additional information: The report also noted that macOS, iPadOS, visionOS, watchOS, and tvOS are expected to receive updates related to Siri and Apple Intelligence, as Apple continues to extend its AI capabilities to more devices.
