Anthropic has selected Morgan Stanley and Goldman Sachs to lead its IPO, with JPMorgan Chase also involved, according to a Bloomberg report. The company filed confidentially for an exchange listing news and is aiming for a listing as soon as October. In its latest project funding news, Anthropic was valued at $965 billion, surpassing OpenAI for the first time.

Anthropic has picked Morgan Stanley and Goldman Sachs to lead work on its initial public offering, Bloomberg reported, as the Claude maker moves closer to a potential public debut.

JPMorgan Chase is also involved in the deal, according to the report. Anthropic is weighing a listing as soon as October and has filed confidentially for an IPO, though the details could still change and more banks may be added.

The move comes after Anthropic was valued at $965 billion in its latest funding round, making it one of the world’s largest private companies and putting it ahead of OpenAI’s valuation for the first time.

The listing would mark one of the most closely watched IPOs in the AI sector as investors test whether public markets can absorb the massive valuations attached to frontier AI firms.

Anthropic was founded in 2021 by former OpenAI employees, including CEO Dario Amodei. The company has positioned itself as a more safety focused AI developer while gaining traction among enterprise customers, developers, financial firms, and health care clients through Claude and its coding tools.

The IPO preparations come as OpenAI is also moving toward a possible public listing. Bloomberg has reported that OpenAI has spoken with banks including Goldman Sachs, Morgan Stanley, Citigroup, and JPMorgan about roles in its own offering.

Anthropic’s business is also tied to the broader AI infrastructure boom. Bloomberg reported that SpaceX has agreed to provide Anthropic with AI computing capacity, including access to hundreds of thousands of Nvidia chips, under a supply agreement running through May 2029.

Anthropic’s latest systems have also intensified attention around the company’s technical lead. Its recent Opus 4.8 release expanded Claude’s capabilities in coding, research, and enterprise workflows, while its upcoming Mythos model has raised fresh concerns around AI safety because of its reported ability to identify and exploit software vulnerabilities when directed by users.
