According to 1M AI News monitoring, Anthropic has introduced a new permission mode called auto mode for its AI programming tool Claude Code, offering a third option between the default step-by-step approval and the fully skipped permission mode (`--dangerously-skip-permissions`).
The core mechanism of auto mode is to have a classifier review each tool call before execution to determine whether the operation is potentially harmful, covering scenarios such as bulk file deletion, sensitive data exfiltration, and malicious code execution. Operations deemed safe are automatically approved, while those identified as dangerous are blocked, prompting Claude to use alternative methods to complete the task. If Claude repeatedly attempts blocked operations, the system will eventually display a user confirmation prompt. Anthropic states that this mode reduces risk but does not eliminate it entirely, and recommends using it in an isolated environment.
Auto mode is currently available to Team plan users in preview mode, and Enterprise and API users will gain access soon. Users can enable it with claude --enable-auto-mode, then switch to this mode during use by pressing Shift+Tab.
Anthropic Launches Auto Mode for Claude Code to Automate Safety Checks
KuCoinFlashShare
Anthropic has launched a new auto mode for Claude Code, providing a middle ground between step-by-step approval and skipped permissions. The mode uses a classifier to evaluate tool calls, automatically approving safe actions and blocking destructive ones. Repeatedly blocked actions prompt user confirmation. Anthropic cautions that the mode is not foolproof and recommends using it in isolated environments. Available now for Team plan users, with Enterprise and API access coming soon. Users can enable it via `claude --enable-auto-mode`. This update adds another layer to AI + crypto developments, as tools evolve to support safer development. Future new token listings may also benefit from such automated safeguards.
