Anthropic Discovers AI-Driven Cyber Espionage Campaign by Chinese State-Sponsored Group

Based on Bitcoin.com, Anthropic has identified and disrupted a large-scale AI-orchestrated cyber espionage campaign attributed to a Chinese state-sponsored group, GTG-1002. The attackers used Claude Code to autonomously perform reconnaissance, vulnerability discovery, exploitation, and data exfiltration across 30 organizations in sectors including technology, finance, and government. The report highlights that AI systems are now capable of executing cyber operations at unprecedented scale, significantly lowering barriers to entry for malicious actors. Anthropic warns that cyberattack capabilities have advanced rapidly, urging the industry to adopt AI-driven defenses to counter emerging threats.
