Based on CoinEdition, Kunal Mehta, a 45-year-old from Irvine, California, has pleaded guilty to laundering $25 million in a RICO conspiracy case involving a $263 million cryptocurrency theft scheme. Mehta is the eighth suspect to plead guilty in the multi-state operation, which used social engineering to steal funds from victims across the U.S. The scheme, active from before October 2023 until March 2025, targeted online gaming platforms and involved hackers, callers, and burglars. U.S. Attorney Jeanine Pirro announced the plea, and the FBI emphasized its commitment to exposing fraudsters and warning the public against sharing personal information with unknown callers or online scammers.
