Anchorage Digital has launched Agentic Banking to provide AI systems with compliant access to financial services. The platform supports identity verification, policy control, and settlement across crypto and traditional finance. Anchorage, a U.S. federally chartered crypto bank, is building a compliant execution layer with real-time risk management and auditability. This initiative addresses the lack of infrastructure for non-human financial actors as AI becomes increasingly autonomous. The bank previously partnered with Google Cloud to create an “intelligent layer” for AI agent collaboration, with Anchorage handling execution and settlement. The development comes amid macro-driven volatility and evolving dynamics in liquidity and crypto markets.

Odaily Planet Daily News: Nathan McCauley, Co-Founder of Anchorage Digital, announced on X the launch of Agentic Banking, designed to provide AI systems with compliant and governable access to funds, including identity verification, policy control, and settlement capabilities across both crypto and traditional financial systems, enabling AI to directly participate in economic activities within regulated frameworks. Built on its U.S. federally chartered crypto bank license, the system delivers a compliant "execution layer" that ensures transactions feature access controls, real-time risk management, and auditability.

Nathan McCauley added that the financial system is entering an "age of autonomy," where AI is transitioning from a decision-support tool to an autonomous agent capable of executing workflows, participating in negotiations, and conducting operations on behalf of institutions. The current financial system is not yet prepared for "non-human participants," lacking identity frameworks for AI, mechanisms for strategy execution, and compliant channels for accessing funds, forcing institutions to balance automation against risk.

Anchorage has previously partnered with Google Cloud, which will build an "intelligent layer" to enable discovery, collaboration, and decision-making among AI agents, while Anchorage handles fund execution and settlement, driving the migration of institutional-grade digital asset infrastructure to the cloud by integrating custody, key management, transaction governance, and staking capabilities to help financial institutions embed stablecoins and digital assets into their products.
