Aave Founder Calls for DAO Governance Reform to Streamline Decision-Making

ChainCatcher reports that Stani Kulechov, founder of Aave, has posted a call for reforming the DAO governance model. He noted that the current way DAOs operate is extremely difficult, with decision-making slowed by forum discussions, sentiment checks, and multiple rounds of voting, while DAOs are prone to politicization, as participants form political alliances, ultimately leading to “politicians” rather than builders emerging as winners. Kulechov argues that governance should focus only on areas requiring collective input—such as major protocol changes and treasury strategies—while the rest should fall under execution, requiring strong leadership. He emphasized that Aave must remain agile and streamline its governance processes to seize opportunities in the global lending market. Recently, the Aave community has experienced governance turmoil, as core contributors BGD Labs and ACI both exited the protocol following conflicts with Aave Labs, amid disagreements over Aave Labs’ proposed “Aave Will Win” initiative.
