According to Techinasia, venture capital firm a16z has announced a $150 million seed round investment in AI inference technology startup Inferact. Inferact is led by maintainers of the open-source inference engine vLLM, which is currently used by companies such as Meta, Google, and Character.ai. Inferact plans to support the development of vLLM by providing financial and development resources to address the growing model complexity, hardware diversity, and deployment scale. At the same time, the company will also develop the next generation of commercial inference engines and collaborate with existing providers to enhance software performance and flexibility.
