opened a fresh wallet yesterday to test something. activation cost me 1 XRP. that part everyone knows. what caught me off guard again was the structure of it. that 1 XRP isn't a fee. it's a deposit. it sits there, locked, until you close the account. same with trustlines, every single one freezes 0.2 XRP in reserve. not burned. just held hostage by the protocol until you clean house. two very different things that feel identical at first.
