Respect DFV but he is missing my point here. This is not about whether I believe subnets have value or don’t. I believe the subnets are integral to the network and to $TAO was.and there are many great subnets that should 10x or more. Here is the scenario I am trying to prevent for myself. Picture this: You own 100 $TAO You invest that 100 TAO in subnets (which btw creates a taxable event that you need to deal with in April of the following year in case you weren’t aware). Your subnets appreciate in value. But you don’t take profits bc you think they have a 10x in them. Bear market ends and $TAO starts to rip. Maybe a good synergistic catalyst is the bittensor ETF from grayscale. Subnets crash and you’re caught in illiquid assets not able to exit in time. Your TAO bag is now worth 75 TAO. TAO keeps ripping to $1000. $1500. Even higher. Subnets keep dipping and stay depressed. You want to take profits but you feel like you can’t bc first you want to get back to that 100 TAO. So you hold your alpha tokens. $TAO has a huge pullback (like it always does after a major rally). Goes from $1500 down to $800. Subnets then starts to return. Eventually you get back to 100 TAO, but TAO is now sitting at $600. ULTIMATE nut punch. Unless your goal is to HODL TAO for the next 5-10 years, you will not be happy. I guarantee you that. This is what I’m trying to avoid. My stance has nothing to do with whether I think there is value in the subnets or not. There is. Lots of it. My stance is that I want out. I want to take profits. I want to use the $ to make a better life for myself and my family. I want to buy a business. I want to invest in RE. I want to diversify away from crypto. And I’m not going to let myself get caught in the scenario above. So, I was up on my subnet portfolio. And I decided to cash out and sit in TAO, bc I believe the bear mkt is soon coming to an end. There could be one last big dip in October. Maybe not. But we are close to the end. That’s for sure. I don’t want to get caught in a huge Tao rally with my pants down and a depressed bag of Tao bc I’m in subnets. Sorry not sorry.
