Ondo succession crisis escalates as founder’s mother is accused by daughter of dementia and alcohol abuse. Ondo Finance founder Nathan Allman died suddenly in May at age 32 without a will. The Hawaii probate court subsequently appointed his parents as heirs, granting them control of Ondo Finance’s controlling equity stake and a large holding of ONDO tokens. Since then, his mother Kathleen has assumed the roles of board chair and interim CEO, sparking a power struggle with the company’s acting CEO. Kathleen subsequently sued the acting CEO, accusing him of attempting to seize control of the company and securing a personal compensation package worth approximately $11 million. Recently, Allman’s half-sister and an Ondo investor have petitioned the Hawaii court to establish a limited conservatorship over Kathleen’s share of the estate. The petitioners allege she has long suffered from alcohol use disorder and cognitive impairment, and request the court evaluate whether she has dementia. The filings also state she has purchased or attempted to purchase a yacht worth approximately $4 million, demanded the company cover over $100,000 in private jet expenses, and stayed in hotels costing around $4,000 per night. Kathleen, through her attorney, denied all allegations, calling the petition baseless and a retaliatory move following failed attempts to seize control. The allegations have not yet been ruled on by the court, and Ondo Finance declined to comment.
