Traders, one of the hardest skills to master is knowing when to be satisfied with a win. Let's say your trading plan calls for a 1:3 risk-to-reward ratio. You hit your target, but the trade keeps running and eventually reaches 1:7. Suddenly, instead of being happy with a profitable trade, you're frustrated that you didn't make more. You start questioning your system, tweaking your strategy, and looking for ways to capture those bigger moves next time. But you're forgetting two important things: The goal is to make more than you lose, not to catch every possible dollar in the market. That trade could have just as easily reversed and taken away the profit you already secured. Learn to be content with executing your plan. A 1:3 is a great trade if that's what your strategy called for. Don't let greed turn a winning system into an inconsistent one. And remember, the same 1:3 that makes you $50 today could make you $12,000 in three hours one day when your account and position size grow. Stop chasing what you could have made. Start appreciating what you did make.
