I collapsed at my side hustle at 11pm last night. I was still in uniform from my day job. Woke up in a hospital bed with a drip in my arm and my phone buzzing with messages from clients I hadn't delivered to. My first thought, embarrassingly, wasn't gratitude to be alive, it was panic about refunds. It took a nurse asking who is waiting for you at home to snap something loose in me. Nobody was actually. I built an entire life around being useful to everyone except the one person actually running on empty. I am back to one job now. I make less money now but get more sleep, and for the first time in years, Sundays don't feel like borrowed time before Monday attacks. Was I weak for slowing down, or was I finally sane?
