I stumbled upon a company called Frontier Computing who recently raised $10M to grow living brain cells into computer chips to train larger models at lower cost. Read that again. The company uses real biological neurons, cultured in a lab, as compute. These neurons learn from much less data than machine learning models require, and don't need to be retrained from scratch to learn new information. Who thinks of this stuff? What a time to be alive.
