🚨🇺🇸 CHAOS IN U.S. AIRSPACE Two transatlantic flights — Lufthansa LH404 from Frankfurt and SWISS LX18 from Zurich — turned around over the Atlantic and headed back to Europe as an FAA communications outage crippled air traffic across the U.S. Northeast. The outage hit JFK, Newark, LaGuardia, Philadelphia and other major airports, after a failed FAA communications circuit and an accidentally severed backup fiber-optic line in New Jersey disrupted air-traffic control operations. ✈️ Thousands of flights were delayed or canceled, with the disruption occurring as world leaders were arriving in New York for the UN General Assembly. A single severed fiber line helped bring one of the busiest air corridors in the United States to a standstill. U.S. air traffic control infrastructure is facing serious questions.
