The Lemon Law (Act on Liability for Defective Goods) has recently been approved by the Cabinet and is currently undergoing the final review process by the legislature and official publication in the Royal Gazette before it becomes fully enforceable. I believe this will happen very soon, and this issue will then significantly decrease. The Lemon Law is designed to protect consumers who purchase goods that turn out to be defective. Key provisions include: General goods: If a significant defect is found, consumers may request a replacement within 7 days. Electrical and electronic devices: Consumers may request a replacement within 14 days. Burden of proof reversal: Instead of the buyer having to prove why the product failed, the seller must now prove that the product was not defective at the time of sale. Currently, the law is in the final stage of being officially promulgated. In countries that already have this law, claims are often processed within 7 days as if it were a trial period—consumers can return or exchange items they’re not satisfied with, provided the product remains in the condition specified (e.g., original tags intact, no unauthorized modifications, etc.).
