It has been revealed that Korea’s only “Son Heung-min mural” is being removed. According to the Gangwon Do Minbo on the 20th, the Son Heung-min mural located at Palho Plaza in Chuncheon, Gangwon Province, will be demolished in March next year alongside the construction of a new building. The mural, completed in November 2021 by artist Hane-dong on the exterior wall of the Chuncheon Dongbu Saemaeul Bank headquarters, took a week to paint. Measuring 7 meters in both width and height, it became a popular attraction for tourists visiting Chuncheon. However, the mural was installed under a licensing agreement with Adidas, the official supplier of LAFC, and has now been removed as that contract period has ended. There are efforts underway to erect a new mural in Koreatown, but progress has reportedly been slow. Meanwhile, Son Heung-min has ended his goal-scoring drought at LAFC and is now preparing to join the national team for the upcoming international break. On the 20th (Korean time), in an away match against San Jose Earthquakes in MLS Round 27, Son recorded one goal and one assist, helping his team secure a 2-2 draw. He has been named in the squad for South Korea’s four consecutive A-matches scheduled for September and October under interim head coach Robert Moreno.
