20 years my mother fought with me and my wife wondering why she wasn’t first. After 20 years she found a letter I wrote to her in basic training wondering why none of my family wrote to me. She then realized in all of my deployments not once has any family called, wrote or sent a care package for me. I sat there in deployments watching everyone get things from family showing they cared while I only received love and messages from my wife. My wife will always come first, my kids are a product of that love. My mother stopped being a mother the day I said I don’t want to be on welfare and go make it on my own. The family you create is more important than the family you come from.
