This is pretty fcked... in 1984 the average Australian house cost about ~$64,000 and the average wage sat around ~$19,000. Three years of hard work bought you the whole house. Today the average full-time worker earns roughly $100k and the average house costs close to ten times that across the country. In Sydney and other capital cities it's nearer to fourteen!! The same house that once cost three years of your life now costs ten to fourteen years before interest... the reality is nobody skipped enough smashed avocado to cover a wealth gap like that. The game itself has changed and the government is fcking us more than ever before.
