My neighbor was diagnosed with stage 2 colon cancer last year. Caught early. Highly treatable. Good prognosis. His out of pocket maximum was $9,000. He made $67,000 a year. Had a wife and 4 kids. He delayed two rounds of chemo trying to figure out the money. "Caught early" only saves you if you can afford to act on it immediately. In this country, a good diagnosis can still ruin you financially.
