Don’t even try to start a business in Korea, whether it’s a real startup or anything else. Eight years ago, my business was booming—sky-high success— but then I got brutally educated by life and went bankrupt. I didn’t go under because I borrowed money and lost; I went under because of a lifelong civil lawsuit for damages. In Korea, you can’t easily declare bankruptcy or recover. When a business fails here, there’s literally no way out. The best choice? Don’t start a business at all. The easiest way to earn money? Work for it.
