Apple Removes Fake Ledger App Behind $9.5M Loss. The app, which impersonated Ledger Live, reportedly deceived more than 50 users and led to approximately $9.5 million in stolen funds, according to blockchain analysis. Apple said the developer, operating under the name “SAS Software Company”, used deceptive tactics, presenting the app as legitimate before prompting users to enter sensitive recovery phrases. One victim, musician Garrett Dutton, reported losing 5.9 Bitcoin, valued at roughly $420,000. He said the loss occurred after he had installed the fake app and had entered his credentials. Apple has since permanently removed the developer account.
