. DO THE MATH ON THE MESSIAH ON EASTER DAY What is the Probability of Just One Person Fulfilling 8 of the Messianic Prophecies That Jesus Christ Fulfilled? https://t.co/sTZhVKkaXx WHY I BELIEVE: DO THE MATH A number of years ago, Peter W. Stoner and Robert C. Newman wrote the book Science Speaks. The work applies the science of probability to the prophecies concerning the Messiah and was endorsed by the American Scientific Affiliation. The authors calculated the odds of any one man in all of history fulfilling even just eight of the major prophecies about the Messiah—prophecies that were fulfilled in the life of Jesus of Nazareth, who ultimately fulfilled more than 300 in total. Here are just a few of over the 300 specific prophecies that the Messiah MUST fulfill: • He would be born in Bethlehem • He would be born of a virgin • He would be a descendant of Abraham and of the lineage of King David • He (the Messiah) would enter Jerusalem on a donkey on a specific date (April 6, 32 A.D., palm Sunday), a detail predicted back in the 6th century B.C. by Daniel the Prophet, over 500 years before the event took place • He would be betrayed by a friend • He would be betrayed for exactly 30 pieces of silver • He would be executed by crucifixion • The crucifixion would take place on Mt. Moriah • He would be crucified alongside criminals • He would rise from the dead • He would be executed without any of His bones being broken Now how many people do you know who were born in Bethlehem, of the royal line of David, betrayed by a close friend for exactly 30 pieces of silver, crucified on the exact site of Mount Moriah, and who also fulfilled all the other details mentioned? Zero, zip, nada!!! Nobody, except Jesus Christ. According to the calculations in Science Speaks, the probability that any one person would fulfill just eight of these major prophecies by chance is 1 in 10^{17}—that is, 1 in 100,000,000,000,000,000 (one followed by 17 zeros). To help visualize this enormous number, imagine the entire state of Texas covered in silver dollars two feet deep. One of those silver dollars is marked. A blindfolded person is then allowed to pick just one coin at random from anywhere in the state. The odds that they would pick the marked coin on the very first try are 1 in 10^{17}. That is the statistical likelihood of any single individual accidentally fulfilling just eight of the more than 300 prophecies that point to the Messiah. Therefore, the evidence is beyond doubt that Jesus Christ was in fact the Messiah, sent by God to redeem the fallen sinful world back to himself. To pay for the sins of world, so we don't have to pay for them ourselves. The free gift of salvation and eternal life. The evidence is beyond reproach. After thoroughly examining the evidence, I am convinced beyond a reasonable doubt that the death, crucifixion & resurrection of Jesus Christ are historical facts — not a myth or hoax. Early eyewitness accounts, the empty tomb, & fulfilled prophecies from centuries earlier make the case too compelling to reject. The evidence leaves no other reasonable conclusion. HAPPY EASTER!!!
