Q&A from KuCoin to ZetaChain

Q: What problem does ZetaChain solve that existing blockchains and AI platforms don’t?

Jonathan: ZetaChain's "Universal Blockchain" solves the chain fragmentation problem. The idea is that users and apps shouldn't care what chain they're on (like the modern internet).

ZetaChain solves 3 big problems:

- Interoperability and cross-chain movement of tokens (with no wrapping like wBTC or wETH or chain switching)

- Unified liquidity (apps can reach value/users wherever they are)

- Composability across ecosystems (apps that directly integrate and do stuff across chains)

Think of ZetaChain as an abstraction layer for the complexity of crypto and we just announced ZetaChain 2.0 yesterday. This extends connectivity to AI models with a focus on unified AI context and privacy.

So apps will run on all the major blockchains + AI models and everything settles on the Universal Execution Layer (ZetaChain) - ton more of details in our announcement on the pinned tweet

Q: ZetaChain recently expanded into AI. Can you explain this direction?

Jonathan: A crypto project doing something with AI? Shocking! But yes, we see Web3 and AI converging of course and ZetaChain is uniquely positioned.

So apps and agents can now run across:

- Multiple blockchains

- Multiple AI models/providers (from gpt to Google to Deepseek and opensource, private, Etc.)

- Memory is PORTABLE across every AI interaction and PRIVATE

For developers building: you get monetization and payment tools out of the box and everything settles on ZetaChain blockchain.

Why are we doing this?

All of us use AI all the time - it's the interface for how working is getting done. But our data is siloed in closed centralized platforms that train and profit off of your data

- AI forgets you and we need to re-explain ourselves every time you use a different AI model

- Similar to Web3, AI need interoperability + better memory persistence and privacy

Q: What is Anuma, and how does it relate to ZetaChain?

Jonathan: Anuma.ai is the first app that showcases how you can own your memory, switch AI models without losing context, and keep everything private.

We also announced this big news yesterday! See pinned tweet for more details. Encourage y'all to sign up for the waitlist to earn credits which will convert to real AI Credits when the product launches officially.

Coming soon is the public API and SDK for developers to build privacy-focused apps with built-in persistent memory across every major AI. This is super cool because everything is built on ZetaChain so an AI app or any web product can plug into ZetaChain which gives native access to all the major chains... let me pull a quick image on the 2.0 stack.

Q: How does ZETA fit into the ecosystem?

Jonathan: ZETA is the utility token that powers the Universal Blockchain. ZetaDocs has all of these details. You may check here

But let me give you the 101 and then talk about the big expansion opportunity with ZetaChain 2.0.

Core utilities of the ZETA coin:

1. Network security: POS network security on ZetaChain’s L1. Incentive for validators and observer/signers that execute on connected external chains

2. TX fees: ZETA is used to pay gas for Universal Apps that execute cross-chain and lets apps move messages/value across multiple blockchains from one contract

3. Governance: ZETA aligns long-term incentives for protocol upgrades and ecosystem direction.

There are ZETA token utility expansion explorations underway that align with ZetaChain 2.0 (I have not shared this publicly actually so this is cool alpha). And the ecosystem will vote on these proposals and stuff. Additional ZETA utility for AI and memory:

1. Decentralized inference staking where ZETA can stake and incentivize AI inference providers for running models and apps.

2. Private Memory Layer where ZETA-backed nodes help secure and back up users' encrypted, private memory.

3. Proof and verification - ZETA aligns economic guarantees around correct AI execution and availability (this is similar to how ZetaChain comes to consensus and verifies on-chain TXs today).

TLDR ZETA expands to power universal TXs not only across web3 blockchains, but also AI execution, private memory, and autonomous agents.

Q: What types of applications can developers build on ZetaChain today?

Jonathan: ZetaChain powers a new class of AI-powered apps & agents that can run across blockchains and AI models... some down to earth examples:

- Cross-Chain DEX (swap native BTC for ETH on Ethereum in one TX) - trigger this through an AI LLM app.

- Portfolio management where an AI agent can manage your assets usdc.base, sol.sol, btc.btc and interact with yield apps and staking.

- Prediction markets that you can access from phantom on Solana or any wallet on any chain.

AI agents need a universal settlement layer to execute stuff and settle payments.

Q: What’s next for ZetaChain in the coming months?

Jonathan: We're shipping a lot of stuff:
- Anuma.ai rollout - we will bring early access to users on the waitlist. Start stacking AI credits now!
- Public API launch for the AI platform (ZetaChain 2.0) so developers can build apps and agents with private memory, AI interoperability, and on-chain monetization by default (this is all live and what Anuma is built on - it's just not ready for developers yet).
- Grow ecosystem apps that span consumer AI-web3 use cases (lots of initiatives around this).
- Performance/speed of ZetaChain itself (<2 second block time)... ZetaChain needs to be fast for all of the AI agent activity that's growing.
- Decentralization of AI infra (some of the things I mentioned earlier)
- Broader AI model connectivity:

Custom

- Blockchain support we're good on:

Custom

ZetaChain supports the top 10 major chains (like 80%+ of users and traffic happens on the top 3).

Q: Where can users and developers learn more or get involved?

Jonathan: THE GENERAL PUBLIC - Anuma.ai waitlist sign up! Earn credits as a contributor so you can stack AI compute and other perks for the public launch!!

Other AI-powered apps on ZetaChain 2.0 coming to market soon... I'm extremely bullish about this. The ease of development to "vibe code" or do "agentic design" is so much greater than Web3 dApps and smart contracts to be honest.

Nonetheless, there's an important place for BOTH Web2 and Web3 decentralized app primitives.

DEVELOPERS - check out our documentation and look out for the public release of the AI developer SDK & new grant programs and creator competitions

Questions from the KuCoin Community to ZetaChain

Q: ZetaChain brands itself as the first Universal Blockchain with Omnichain Smart Contracts. How do you define universal in practical terms  and what makes this different from other interoperability solutions like LayerZero, Axelar or Cosmos IBC?

Jonathan: - Universal means you build your app once, and it runs everywhere

- Devs deploy one EVM-compatible smart contract and it can interact with assets and users across chains (Bitcoin, Ethereum, Solana, and others)

- The other solutions focus on messaging between chains.. so you have to reinvent the wheel and deploy your smart contract on every chain you want to connect. Not practical for complex use cases like lending.

So with the Universal blockchain, you BUILD ONCE, LAUNCH EVERYWHERE. Don't need to worry about the underlying chain of things as a developer...

As a user, you use whatever wallet you want from any chain

Q: How can community members contribute to ZetaChain beyond holding the ZETA token?

Jonathan: One main way is to stake ZETA and contribute to securing the universal layer for AI and Web3 — this is an easy, direct way to support our mission. Companies like Alibaba and Deutsche Telecom run validations on ZetaChain - you can delegate to them or others.

If you’re a dev - you can build apps or agents using ZetaChain and tap into all of crypto and AI — useful products and services require ZETA token and will help create user demand.

Q: Anuma private chat sounds promising for decentralized AI interaction. How does ZetaChain ensure security, scalability, and cross chain communication reliability while maintaining fast performance as AI driven applications grow rapidly?

Jonathan: ZetaChain is a decentralized POS L1 blockchain (EVM based so time tested, no single point of failure, etc.). On scalability, the block time on ZetaChain is <2 seconds and we’re continuing to optimize performance for agents and automation

NOTE: As an interoperable blockchain that connects all the major chains, you can only go as fast as other blockchains. So a native BTC swap for stables on an EVM chain could take up to 20 min (Bitcoin block time). This is a feature of Bitcoin, not a bug!

ZetaChain 2.0 addresses other AI security and reliability things - I'll share a screenshot right from the press release yesterday:

Here's the full press release. Also worth mentioning our team co-create Basic Attention Token (BAT), which powers the Brave browser. So this expansion into privacy focused solutions is very in line with our past experience. Brave has been getting a lot of traction lately (over 100M active users).

Q: What are 'Omnichain Smart Contracts' on ZetaChain?  And in the context of ZetaChain, what does 'Interoperability' mean?

Jonathan: An "Omnichain" or "Universal Smart Contract" is one contract that can manage assets on any chain and users can access it from any wallet on any connected chain.

No one has built anything quite like it - you can nerd out more in the docs.

The word “Interoperability” simply means the ability of computer systems or software to exchange and make use of information (I googled this).

Basically, the internet solved "interoperability" during the early Web1 internet with protocols  like TCP/IP. ZetaChain solved that for Web3 blockchains and is now extending that to the age of AI!

Q: How do you think ZetaChain’s omnichain approach could impact $ZETA adoption and demand over time?

Jonathan: For this final question, I will see what Nano Banana says. I have something! 🔍

It's full of typos but let me quickly explain:

ZetaChain is building the universal layer for AI and Web3. If this becomes the de facto standard for building apps that run across all chains and AI models (this is our mission), then you will see this flywheel grow.

More apps and agents from the developer community ➝ more on-chain activity by all of us (users). ➝ more developer interest building useful products and services. REPEAT. AI and Web3 are converging - all the AI work needs to get paid out on chains (stables is a huge use case).

Companies and enterprises don't want to deal with the complexity of crypto and chains (ZetaChain is a single API and service for settlement. Very excited for 2026 and ZetaChain 2.0!  sign up for Anuma.ai to earn AI credits at public launch

Q: The Private Memory Layer in ZetaChain 2.0 sounds game changing for user privacy in AI. Can you share any early examples or use cases where apps are already using it to maintain persistent, encrypted context across chains and AI providers?

Jonathan: Anuma.ai is the first AI chat application where you own your memory, switch AI models without losing context, and keep it private. This a a great showcase of ZetaChain 2.0

The LLM chat use case is fundamental.. There's a big opportunity to enable agent creation tools within Anuma itself.

Either way, the API/SDK will go public soon and anyone will be able to build these privacy focused crypto compatible apps.

ALPHA, There's an app launching in the next week or so that has been building on ZetaChain 2.0 - it involves SMS.

Q: What inspired the creation of Zetachain?

Jonathan: Cosmos IBC (a blockchain of blockchains approach) - however, it was a unique tech platform with an obscure programming language and they didn't market well despite the tech being great (Zetachain is Cosmos based).

And Thorchain inspired us - an application specific cross-chain DEX. I actually wrote about this a while back

Q: Staking programs are very important for any project. Can I stake the $ZETA token? Do you have any plans to start a staking program?

Jonathan: Yes, staking to ZetaChain to help secure The Universal Layer for AI and Web3 is live and encouraged! You may check this link.

We are exploring ways to expand staking roles to support decentralized AI inference and Private Memory Layer strength/security.

Q: As more chains connect to ZetaChain, universal apps gain access to broader liquidity and composability. What chains or ecosystems are next on your integration roadmap, and how will those integrations benefit users?

Jonathan: Yes, the focus now is supporting the leading proprietary AI models from providers like OpenAI, Google including Nano Banana, xAI, and MiniMax, alongside open-source models including Qwen, GLM, DeepSeek, and more through a single interface (the AI Portal).

On the blockchain side, ZetaChain currently supports Bitcoin, Ethereum, Solana, and the other major chains. This is not as high of a priority - rather we're focused on optimization or reliability of existing cross-chain integrations.

Q: Why did ZetaChain choose a universal Layer-1 model instead of being a middleware protocol?

Jonathan: Building an L1 gives you more ecosystem control and development freedom.

We wanted to establish a new paradigm for how developers build Web3 applications that work across all chains.

Messaging protocols require developers to deploy and customize their app deployments for the chains they want to connect - it's more of a band-aid approach.
