      XPRT is used for transaction fees related to trading or LPing on the DEX, XPRT staking or liquid staking, IBC transfers, and other on-chain activity. It secures the Persistence Core-1 Chain via Proof of Stake, where validators and XPRT stakers participate in securing the network. XPRT stakers receive staking rewards, along with rebates on BTC bridging fees and boosted rewards on the incentivised mainnet.

      Additionally, XPRT governance has the final say on major protocol parameter changes, integrations, chain upgrades, community pool spend, and incentives.

    • How Does Persistence Work?

      Persistence One uses an intent-based mechanism to enable cross-chain swaps across Bitcoin Layer 2s, sidechains, and BTC-aligned networks.

      Instead of users manually handling multiple steps across different chains, they simply express an intent, meaning what they want to do. The system handles how it gets done.

      Once an intent is submitted and signed, solvers compete to fulfil it. Solvers handle routing,liquidity, and execution across chains, so users do not need to manage technical steps themselves. User funds are temporarily escrowed on the source chain. After the solver fulfils the order on the destination chain, the escrowed funds are released to the solver.

      By separating user intent from execution, this approach simplifies cross-chain swaps, improves efficiency, and enables fast and secure BTCfi transactions.

    • History of Persistence and XPRT Coin

      Persistence One was co-founded in Q2 2019 by Tushar Aggarwal and Deepanshu Tripathi. The project launched publicly in January 2020, initially focused on building decentralised infrastructure.

      In March 2021, Persistence launched its Core-1 mainnet as a proof-of-stake chain. The network grew its validator set and established XPRT as the native token for staking, governance, and network security.

      In July 2024, Persistence announced a strategic pivot to Bitcoin DeFi. The thesis: Bitcoin is the most valuable crypto asset but remains massively underutilised in DeFi because liquidity is fragmented across chains. Moving BTC-based assets between networks is still too complex and inefficient.

      Persistence One is now building interoperability infrastructure to make BTC and BTC-derivative assets seamlessly usable across DeFi—without users needing to worry about which chain their assets are on.

      Today, Persistence One is positioned as BTC Interoperability infrastructure. Jeroen Develter serves as CEO, leading the Bitcoin-focused roadmap, with XPRT continuing its role in network security, incentives, and governance.
