Crypto Mining

Intermediate

Crypto mining or cryptocurrency mining is the process that verifies transactions taking place on a blockchain. Once transactions are verified, it creates new tokens, which are offered as rewards for the mining procedure.

Cryptocurrency mining requires high levels of computing power and is an energy-intensive method to mint new tokens in a blockchain network that uses a Proof of Work consensus mechanism. Bitcoin is one such network that requires crypto mining to create new coins.

Crypto mining lets miners prove their computational work for validating each transaction within the blockchain network. In exchange for their efforts, they receive a block reward of new tokens mined.
