Meet Kaspa: Making Proof of Work Faster
Bitcoin demonstrated that proof of work (PoW) can secure a decentralized network through open competition among miners. However, traditional PoW blockchains usually use a single-chain structure, where blocks are added and confirmed one after another. This can limit network speed and scalability.
Kaspa explores another possibility: retaining PoW security, open mining, and decentralization while enabling faster block processing.
Kaspa achieves this through a blockDAG architecture. Unlike traditional blockchains that arrange blocks sequentially on one chain, Kaspa can retain and order multiple valid blocks created at nearly the same time, improving processing efficiency. The Kaspa mainnet currently operates at 10 blocks per second (10 BPS), showing that this design is already live rather than only a future concept.
Kaspa launched fairly in November 2021, with no premine, presale, or insider allocation. Since genesis, every KAS in circulation has been produced through open PoW mining.
Mining is therefore more than one way to acquire KAS. It is a core mechanism through which Kaspa issues coins, processes blocks, and secures the network.
Three Kaspa Features to Remember
-
High-performance PoW: Kaspa retains PoW and open mining while its mainnet operates at 10 BPS, demonstrating that a PoW network can also process blocks faster.
-
blockDAG architecture: Multiple valid blocks created at nearly the same time can be retained and ordered instead of limiting the network to blocks on a single chain, improving processing efficiency.
-
Fair launch: Kaspa had no premine, presale, or insider allocation. KAS has been mined openly since genesis, directly connecting mining with coin issuance and network security.
Why Participate in KAS Mining?
When buying KAS directly, users make a one-time purchase at the current market price and receive the corresponding amount of KAS immediately.
With KAS mining, users purchase KAS hashrate for a specified period. While the order is operating, users can receive daily KAS outputs based on actual mining performance. For users who want to stay involved in the Kaspa ecosystem and acquire KAS gradually, mining offers a different way to participate than buying the coin directly.
-
Receive KAS over time: Gradually receive daily KAS outputs based on actual mining performance during the order period.
-
Participate in the PoW network: Hashrate helps process blocks and secure Kaspa, while mining is also the foundation of KAS issuance.
-
Avoid relying on one purchase point: Unlike making a one-time purchase at a single market price, KAS is produced gradually while the order operates.
How to Start KAS Cloud Mining with KuMining
-
Step 1: Open your Mining Account. Open the KuCoin App, enter KuMining, and follow the on-screen instructions.
-
Step 2: Choose a KAS mining plan. Select a suitable amount of hashrate and mining duration based on your budget and needs.
-
Step 3: Purchase hashrate. Confirm the order and pay the hashrate fee. An eligible hashrate discount coupon may be applied when placing the order.
-
Step 4: Prepay electricity fees. Hashrate fees and electricity fees are paid separately. After purchasing hashrate, prepay electricity fees according to the product rules to keep the order operating normally.
-
Step 5: View KAS outputs. After output settlement begins, view daily and cumulative KAS outputs in your Mining Account.
