KuCoin Launches Quarterly VIP Level Shield

To further enhance the trading experience for high-tier VIP users and provide greater stability during market fluctuations, KuCoin is pleased to introduce the Quarterly VIP Level Shield mechanism.
 
This feature applies to VIP5 and above users and introduces a quarterly minimum level protection and deferred downgrade mechanism, helping prevent significant one-time VIP tier drops caused by short-term market volatility or temporary changes in trading activity. The mechanism is designed to provide a more stable and flexible VIP level framework for high-value traders.

1. VIP Level Protection Scope

The Quarterly VIP Level Shield applies to VIP5–VIP12 users, with the following minimum protected levels within the current quarter:
  • VIP5: Minimum protection at VIP5
  • VIP6: Minimum protection at VIP5
  • VIP7: Minimum protection at VIP5
  • VIP8: Minimum protection at VIP5
  • VIP9: Minimum protection at VIP6
  • VIP10: Minimum protection at VIP7
  • VIP11: Minimum protection at VIP8
  • VIP12: Minimum protection at VIP9
This framework ensures that higher-tier VIP users receive proportionally stronger protection during the quarter.

2. How the Quarterly VIP Level Shield Works

If a VIP5 or above user no longer meets the requirements for their current VIP level within the past 30 days, the system will not immediately apply a multi-tier downgrade. Instead, a gradual adjustment mechanism will be applied:
  • The VIP level can decrease by no more than one level every 30 days
  • Downgrades remain subject to the quarterly minimum protection level
For Example:
If a VIP9 user no longer meets the VIP9 requirements, their VIP level will not drop significantly at once. Instead, it will decrease by one level every 30 days, while maintaining at least VIP6 status during the current quarter.
 
If the remaining time in the quarter is less than 30 days, the next potential downgrade will occur at the end of the quarter, with the recalculation applied at the start of the next quarter.
 
If the user meets the requirements for VIP5 or above at any time in the following quarter, they will continue to be eligible for the Quarterly VIP Level Shield policy in that quarter.

3. Eligibility

The Quarterly VIP Level Shield applies to users who achieve VIP5 or above through any of the following criteria:
  1. KCS Holdings
  2. Account Assets*
  3. 30-Day Spot Trading Volume
  4. 30-Day Futures Trading Volume
  5. Net Borrowing (Coming Soon)

4. Enhancing Stability for VIP Traders

The Quarterly VIP Level Shield is designed to support high-frequency traders, institutional participants, and high-AUM clients who rely on stable trading conditions and predictable fee structures.
 
By reducing sudden changes in VIP status, this mechanism helps provide:
  • More stable trading fee structures
  • Reduced volatility in VIP level adjustments
  • A more predictable trading experience for long-term traders
