What Is a Quanto Contract?

Simply put, a Quanto contract allows the underlying asset to be priced in one currency while margin, P&L, and settlement are denominated in another currency.

For the SHEINHKDUSDT Quanto Perpetual Contract, Tencent Holdings Limited (HKEX: 0625) is priced in Hong Kong dollars (HKD), while margin, P&L, and settlement are all denominated in USDT. The system uses a 1:1 conversion ratio between HKD and USDT for calculation purposes, with no actual foreign exchange conversion involved.

Example: SHEINHKDUSDT Quanto Perpetual Contract

User A opens a 10 SHEINHKDUSDT long position at an average entry price of 200 HKD and closes the position when the price reaches 300 HKD.

1. Trading Fee (0.06%)
Trading Fee = 200 × 10 × 0.06% = 1.2 USDT

2. Funding Fee (0.01%)
Funding Fee = 200 × 10 × 0.01% = 0.2 USDT per funding interval

3. Maintenance Margin (1%)
Maintenance Margin = 200 × 10 × 1% = 20 USDT

4. Realized P&L
Realized P&L = (300 − 200) × 10 = 1,000 USDT

After closing the position, the realized P&L is settled directly in USDT to the Futures account.
