According to TechFlow, on December 9, Daylight, a blockchain startup backed by a16z and Framework Ventures, launched the DayFi protocol on Ethereum. The protocol aims to convert energy into yield-generating crypto assets by combining the GRID stablecoin and sGRID yield tokens to finance solar installations and return tokenized yields to investors. Daylight founder Jason Badeaux stated that distributed energy offers the fastest and most cost-effective way to expand energy production and storage on the grid. The company is currently operating in Illinois and Massachusetts and plans to expand to more U.S. regional markets, including California.
