Apple demonstrated a new feature for everyday payment scenarios at WWDC 2026. After pointing their iPhone at a restaurant receipt, users can have Siri identify the items on the bill through the camera interface, select the items they ordered, and then send separate Apple Cash payment requests to their companions.
After aligning the receipt, you can allocate items individually.
According to Apple’s live demo, this feature will convert the items on the bill—such as dishes and drinks—into selectable options. Users can mark what each person actually consumed using Siri mode in the camera, rather than splitting the total evenly.
At the event, Apple’s Software Vice President Sebastien Marineau-Mes said that when dining with friends, simply point your iPhone at the bill to select your items and request payment via Apple Cash.
Payment requests are directly integrated with Apple Cash.
The focus of this feature is not just on identifying bills, but also on integrating the subsequent payment process directly with Apple’s native payment system. After assigning project costs, users can send individual payment requests to their peers for their respective shares, reducing the need for manual calculations and repeated confirmations.
Compared to third-party split-payment apps, Apple has integrated this process into built-in iPhone features, lowering the barrier to entry. For users already using iMessage and Apple Cash, splitting bills and receiving payments can be done within the same system.
Siri Camera continues to expand life scenarios
Apple also demonstrated another use case for Siri in Camera. In addition to identifying bills, this feature can read food information during meals and provide approximate nutritional data.
This indicates that Apple is integrating its camera, visual recognition, and Siri into more frequent daily scenarios. Unlike simply answering questions, these features emphasize completing actions directly after recognizing content—including sequential tasks like identification, selection, and initiating payments.
