The Huoxing Finance report states that on August 5, Rocket Lab secured a $397 million contract from the U.S. Space Force for the Space-Based Advanced Moving Target Indicator (SB-AMTI) project. Serenity posted that this contract signifies Rocket Lab will play a more significant role within the U.S. military space system. Under the contract, Rocket Lab will be responsible for developing, launching, and operating multiple Flatellite satellites equipped with space-based sensors and communication links to provide target detection, tracking, and data services to the U.S. Space Force. Serenity believes the core value of this contract lies not only in the nearly $400 million in revenue but also in the recognition by the U.S. defense system of Rocket Lab’s low Earth orbit satellite constellation capabilities. The company plans to use its Neutron medium-lift launch vehicle to carry out related satellite launches, further advancing its transition from a “small rocket company” to a comprehensive space infrastructure provider. The SB-AMTI project is managed by the U.S. Space Force’s Space Awareness and Targeting Division, aiming to establish a space-based system for detecting and tracking aerial threats. The contract also includes options for increasing the number of Flatellite satellites in the future. Rocket Lab CEO Peter Beck stated that the company is honored to participate in the SB-AMTI project, which is critical to building a layered and resilient tracking architecture for the U.S. Space Force.
