KuCoin AMA With Dreams Quest — Building the First-Ever Metaverse-Based Economy

2021/12/06 09:11:10

Dear KuCoin Users,

Time: December 1, 2021, 11:00-12:08 (UTC)

KuCoin hosted an AMA (Ask-Me-Anything) session with Dreams Quest Co-Founder Steve Good in the KuCoin Exchange Group.

Project Introduction

.Dreams Quest is building the first-ever metaverse-based economy, a self-sustaining DreamsVerse where people will be driven to participate in the decentralized play-to-earn RPG game using dynamic NFTs. Unknown factors will affect character attributes in-game, and post-game outcomes will dynamically change the NFT card attributes and write them on the blockchain (the ethereal scribes) to show game history for each card.

Q&A from KuCoin

Q: What is the vision of Dreams Quest and what is the inspiration behind the project?

Steve: What inspired us were a couple of things.

First off, we wanted to really build a game that was beautiful in a style that would be memorable. We wanted to build an RPG game where you could walk around, explore and Play to Earn, but the key was to make it something really extraordinary or just really metaverse style set in a place that you have never been to before. And along with that, we've seen how tough the world has become and we wanted to solve the problem of financial dependency that so many people face today by building a game that would create some financial freedom.

So our vision is really to build a game that is free to play, play to earn, and has a beautiful place to explore where people can gain some financial freedom.

Q: How does Dreams Quest differentiate itself from the latest buzz of metaverse and blockchain gaming projects?

Steve: Well, the key differences for us are about a few things.

To start, we are free to play, so there is no barrier to entry. Everyone can come and play to get started.

Second, we have been working with Chainlink to use their tech. Part of that was to build Dynamic NFTs, meaning they change over time. Imagine your experience gains or various attributes change over time? We think that's something really cool and will really allow a lot more engagement when you can see your card history on chain for anything you own in the game.

Third, every single thing in the game is an NFT, from the characters to the weapons, spells and potions, the land and the buildings.

And finally, we are bringing high fantasy reality to life in our DreamsVerse. This is something we haven't really seen done before, and we are proud of the artwork we have and the samples of our 3D realm that we have already shared with the public.

Q: In what different ways can a user participate in Dreams Quest?

Steve: Ah, that's the cool part. We've got a lot of things being planned.

First of all, players who want to go on quests in the 3D realm can do that. We are starting with single player but looking at how we can make that so you can go on adventures with your friends too.

Then you can go into our arena for the tournament battles. That's what we are building now as our mini-game, and we recently shared what that realm looks like on our social channels, including Twitter. I can share that later if you like.

Then to really build a metaverse-based economy, we are building out a way for players to buy land and own or rent a shop so that they can just make money as shopkeepers, like merchants, blacksmiths, alchemists, for example.

So that gives you the 3 main pillars of our game in terms of how people can participate as we build it out.

This is our 3D realm: https://twitter.com/DreamsQuestNFT/status/1463844423020732418

I am recording a walkthrough using Unity and that should be up on our social channels later today or tomorrow too. Some super cool stuff to give you all an idea of what we are doing and where we are going. This is just the battle arena in the dragon's graveyard. Obviously, the realm will be a LOT bigger with many places to explore!

Every 2 weeks, we plan to release more. We will be adding a lot more assets into the realm to give even more realism to it.

Q: Can you provide a little more insight on dynamic NFTs?

Steve: Imagine you have a character and from various actions, that character could gain hit points or experience.

Then you would want to see how that card has evolved and have proof of it. No tampering. It's all immutable.

But of course, injuries could lead to downgrades, too, could happen.

So we just know that to make a game truly dynamic, you need to ensure that all of the assets a player holds should be changing all the time, the same as when you upgrade an item in Minecraft or Diablo (yes, very different games but same basic idea).

And we want to ensure that the cards both show card ownership (game username) and other attributes of the cards, so you see how they evolve over time. And as a card moves between players, we would see that history as well. And what makes a card valuable then comes down to how people view that card.

Is the card that I rented to a famous Twitcher gonna make my card more valuable? Or is it because I upgraded it a lot? Or what if the card is in mint condition and never played?

So we want to give people many options to play and try things out over time. A LOT to build but it's fun to be able to try many things to see what our community wants. And of course, that means we want to hear from you with all your great ideas too!

We are also working on making parts of the card image change too!

Just thought I would mention that dynamic can be both the attributes as well as images as we build this.

Q: Can you share a little about the Dreams Quest marketplace?

Steve: Ah yes! It's a little delayed but it's almost ready. We have had to add some extra features in, so that people who bought their NFTs on the Binance NFT marketplace could also come and claim their actual cards with us too.

In essence, it will be the place to come and buy some game cards, weapons, spells, potions and other stuff. Plus land and buildings and such too. It will be over time that we keep adding new items, mostly fairly cheap items, so that again the game is not seen as some pay to play because we don't want that, but players who want to buy stuff will be able to. Also, we will sell chests of various types, standard and magical ones, so that you will get more value from the chest than what you paid.

I'm sorta showing the roadmap. Not all of this will be on day 1. It just gives you an idea of what we plan to put on there. It's in testing now, so I am expecting to see it to do the final tests soon too.

Also, all of the cards will mint on Polygon, but you will be able to buy them with our coins or other currencies such as BNB and then ETH.

The idea being that it should be a transparent experience for the user. We will show your inventory on our site even though it's in the Polygon network, even if you buy with coins from ERC or BEP networks. Just creates a better user experience, we think.

Over time we will add auction features too. We will start with buy/sell and then just progress it to whatever people ask for.

Q: What’s the role of $DREAMS tokens in the overall Dreams Quest ecosystem?

Steve: Well, if you played any games that are quests and battles based, then you will know that you can earn gold or emeralds (like in Minecraft), and when you are playing our game, you will earn DREAMS the same way.

You can then sell items you pick up from battles and quests and sell them to get DREAMS, or you can use your DREAMS to buy items in the game, to upgrade, to forge, or to enter the tournaments, so it's really an in-game resource. Feel free to ask me any questions about that too.

Q: What does Dreams Quest have planned in the short and medium-term to keep the community involved? When can users expect to start playing or testing the game?

Steve: In terms of community involvement, we have tons of stuff going on all the time. We just finished launching our ambassador program and our memes competition, for example.

And we are doing the trading competition on KuCoin.

Plus, we are looking at ways to gamify Discord so that users have to complete quests inside Discord in order to find DREAMS or other NFT items.

And as you saw, we shared a sneak peek. I now have a full ability to walk around inside that space and where that takes us is to the first mini-game early next year.

The plan is to get the environment out so that anyone can walk around and then we will keep adding assets, add 3D characters that you can control and then run that all in test net and then keep adding until it’s connected to wallets and can be running with multiple players running around in some sort of battle/competition environment.

We think 2 months to have this in public hands to play around and then another month to get some game play started. So we are excited to see where this goes. So far, the feedback has been really positive, so testing should start in late January, I expect. We will keep updating everyone on our weekly round tables and YouTube updates.

Discord is the place to go for all the gamification we are building out, which will be the hot stuff. Telegram is where we keep people informed. And, of course, we encourage everyone to come to ask questions in either place.

Free-Ask from KuCoin Community

Q: Do the token holders have the right to participate in the governance of the project? What kind of decisions can they vote on about the project?

Steve: Ah yes, great question. In fact, we have an NFT called the guardians. Right now, we have 2 classes of guardians who are just from different realms.

They have the ability to vote on proposals for their own realm. That way, the community can make suggestions and their guardians can vote on what types of changes they want to make to their realm.

Guardians are non-gameplay cards but also have other abilities to enhance the players’ game cards. Guardians who bond to a faction (a group or party) will be able to all benefit from the powers of the guardian, and the guardian will also get a bit more in bonuses.

Unstaked guardians will get things like more hit points and experience gain. Staked guardians will get more yield when they earn DREAMS in the game from battles or quests.

Q: Do you have any plans to attract non-crypto investors to join your project because the success of a project attracts more investors who haven't yet entered the crypto world? What are the plans to raise awareness about your project in the non-crypto space?

Steve: Yes, we are planning to first get enough of the game working that we can get a mobile version which means the game will be partially centralized so that we can allow people to play this way.

Once we do that, we will certainly then market the game to the non-crypto gamers too. It's really important that we cross over to the gamers who would like to play but don't know how to get into crypto. So we need to make sure we make it as easy as possible to get across.

We will also look to build partnerships with other game studios and industry leaders. The more we can expand through partnership, the greater our chances of longer-term success too! Watch this metaverse.

Q: How did you get the community involved in developing the project and how do you build a strong community to grow globally?

Steve: Yes, we have the community involved mostly because we are doing YT shows every Wednesday and round table sessions LIVE every Friday on Discord or Twitter spaces.

We welcome all ideas and feedback and we get a lot of ideas on our weekly calls. Plus, we have some places in Discord where people can just go into the channel and make their suggestions.

In the future, we will have the governance boards for the guardians so that everyone can make suggestions and guardians can vote for any suggestions they want the team to look at seriously or urgently.

Overall we are spending a lot of time talking to the community and are always available on Fridays to answer all of your questions.

Our live calls are every Friday at 3 pm UTC.

Q: Can you share with us your tokenomics? How much is the total and circulating supply of your tokens? Will there be a buy-back system or token burning in the future?

Steve: All of our tokenomics, supply, minting, etc., are found in our light paper, which is found on https://overview.dreams.quest

Q: Too many projects promise magic but never release any working product or prove any revenue within a short/long time of release. Is your project also like this? If not, can you tell us what makes your project different from other projects?

Steve: Sure, that's a good question.

First of all, many of our team are quite public people. I am a best-selling author and also teach sales, marketing and growth for Tim Draper at Draper University. Tim is a huge crypto investor as well as a non-crypto investor. I would be crazy to ruin my name personally by not doing my best to deliver you a great project.

I should also mention that Paulii, our CMO, was head of Holo/Holochain marketing for 2 years. She is pretty public as well and I know she really believes how important it is to keep her reputation for success. She also does some public speaking too. Chris Willis is a Chainlink OG and is fairly well known within the Chainlink community. Again he wouldn't want to ruin his name.

I hope that gives you all an idea about how serious we all are at making this game a success and making sure we build something that we are proud of and that you love to play!

Q: How critical do you consider the interoperability between the ecosystems to be to the future of blockchain tech of $DREAMS and how are you paying the way to that future?

Steve: I just want to say this is a HUGE question and we are working on a spinoff project to solve this very question.

We have been working on something cool to integrate a few games and will spin this tech off into a separate project! More to follow.

These are all of our links: https://linktr.ee/DreamsQuest! Please do come and visit.

Q: Is there anything else you would like to share or you want us to know?

Steve: Just follow us and we will be doing a lot of project early info releases. It's gonna be epic and fun!
