The most overlooked aspect regarding support and resistance, in my opinion, is this: You can draw numerous levels using SMA, EMA, Ichimoku, or other methods. But when price reaches those levels, the same question arises: Will it find support here, or will this level act as resistance? The problem is rarely with the line itself. What’s missing is seeing how much actual volume occurred at that price level. I’m not just asking, “Did volume increase or decrease?” My primary question is: How did the market respond to a specific price over a specific period? For example, when analyzing gold’s last three-month movement, instead of simply drawing a line at $4,300 on the chart, it’s far more revealing to see how much trading occurred around that price, how buy and sell volumes were distributed, and how the market reacted to that zone. This is where the core idea of Footprint begins: Reading volume not just by time, but by price level.
