As SHIB’s price rose, the position’s value peaked at approximately $5 billion; currently, the asset value held by this address cluster remains above $2.5 billion, with a cumulative return exceeding 21,000 times. To reduce exposure risk, the whale split its holdings across 14 addresses in November 2021. In January 2023, Bubblemaps first disclosed this SHIB whale cluster, which at the time controlled about 10% of SHIB’s supply and was valued at over $1 billion, sparking community discussions on concentrated holdings by a single entity. Subsequently, the address cluster repeatedly migrated and split its wallets. In September 2023, Bubblemaps observed its holdings dispersed from a few obvious wallets to numerous new addresses—a typical operation aimed at reducing on-chain visibility. Using the Magic Nodes tool, Bubblemaps was still able to identify the relationships among these wallets. During SHIB’s price surge in early 2024, the whale’s position value once again surpassed $2 billion, with the number of wallets expanding to over 170. To date, the cluster still controls approximately 8.51% of SHIB’s circulating supply—a slight decline from the initial 10%—but Bubblemaps noted that this reduction primarily stems from normal on-chain transfers, with no evidence of large-scale selling. Bubblemaps emphasized that this case highlights the critical value of on-chain transparency tools: while a single entity can obscure massive holdings by splitting wallets, all fund transfers leave public on-chain records.
