The Huoxing Finance report, citing Coindesk, states that Bittensor developers have submitted a new proposal titled “Root Reborn,” aiming to alter the revenue distribution mechanism for Root network stakers. Currently, Root network stakers receive rewards by selling subnet tokens to acquire TAO, which continuously exerts selling pressure on subnet tokens. The new proposal will allow validators to actively select their preferred combination of subnets and reinvest the proceeds that were previously used for sales into these subnets, creating a compounding asset basket over time. This move will transform continuous selling pressure into net buying demand for subnet tokens, while shifting validators from passive income recipients to active selectors akin to fund managers. Stakers will still earn rewards and can redeem their subnet assets for TAO at any time. The proposal has currently only been submitted to the testnet and has not yet been deployed on the mainnet. It is reported that TAO has declined 28% over the past 12 months, with the current annualized yield for Root network staking at approximately 17%.
