🚨FED HOLDS RATES! BITCOIN REACTS — WHAT'S NEXT?

🏦 The Fed held rates at 3.75–4.00%, but two policymakers wanted a hike.

Bitcoin showed a modest gain after the decision. What could elevated inflation mean for the next move?

🚨 FED DECISION DAY: BITCOIN'S NEXT BIG TEST!

🏦 October 28, 2026 | FOMC

The market largely expects the Federal Reserve to HOLD interest rates at 3.75%–4.00%.

But a rate hold doesn't necessarily mean bullish news for Bitcoin.

🔍 THREE THINGS TO WATCH:

🔹 **1. The Fed's language**

Will policymakers signal a possible December rate hike?

🔹 **2. Inflation concerns**

Persistent price pressures could keep financial conditions tighter for longer.

🔹 **3. Bitcoin's reaction**

Watch the US dollar, Treasury yields and BTC liquidity — not just the first price spike.

⚡ THE VOLATILITY TRAP

A sharp move immediately after the announcement can reverse during the press conference. High leverage makes those reversals especially dangerous.

⏰ DECISION: 18:00 UTC

🎙️ PRESS CONFERENCE: 18:30 UTC

💡 The real question isn't just what the Fed decides today. It's what comes next.

💬 Could a hawkish rate hold put more pressure on Bitcoin than an actual rate hike already priced into markets?

🚨 BITCOIN BEFORE THE FED: THE REAL RISK ISN'T THE RATE DECISION

🏦 The Fed meets October 27–28, with markets overwhelmingly expecting rates to remain unchanged.

But BTC traders should watch what comes next.

⚡ A hawkish signal about December could pressure risk assets even if the Fed holds rates steady.

📊 Three things to watch:

• The policy statement

• Inflation and rate-path guidance

• The Fed Chair's press conference

💡 A widely expected rate hold is not automatically bullish for Bitcoin.

👀 Will the Fed calm markets — or trigger another volatility spike?

🚨SPX OPTIONS RADAR: WHY IS SHORT-TERM VOLATILITY RISING BEFORE THE FED?

The S&P 500 barely moved on a weekly basis. But underneath the surface, options traders have been repricing near-term uncertainty.

That divergence deserves attention.

THE MARKET SNAPSHOT

SPX closed Friday, October 23, at 7,623.68, down approximately 0.47% for the week.

The VIX finished near 19.45.

Meanwhile, an October 25 options-market snapshot published by CAPITAL EX showed:

• 7-day implied volatility: 15.5%, up 1.9 percentage points.

• 14-day implied volatility: 15.2%, up 1.1 percentage points.

• Put skew: approximately 3.5%, down from 4.1%.

These are provider-specific options metrics, not identical to the VIX benchmark.

So why does this matter?

1. THE MARKET IS PRICING EVENT RISK

Implied volatility measures the level of uncertainty reflected in option prices.

When short-dated IV rises faster than longer-dated IV, traders may be paying a higher premium for exposure or protection around upcoming events.

It does not necessarily predict a market crash.

It suggests that the near-term distribution of possible outcomes is becoming more expensive to trade.

2. THE TERM STRUCTURE IS CHANGING

The options snapshot points to relatively elevated volatility at shorter maturities.

That makes sense ahead of a significant macroeconomic calendar.

The Federal Reserve meets on October 27–28, with its policy announcement scheduled for Wednesday.

The crucial question is not only what the Fed decides.

It is whether the decision and subsequent commentary change expectations for yields, financial conditions and future policy.

3. WHY IS PUT SKEW FALLING?

The reported decline in put skew from approximately 4.1% to 3.5% is an important detail.

Put skew reflects relative pricing across different option strikes, often capturing the premium investors pay for downside protection.

A decline can indicate that downside puts have become relatively less expensive under the provider's calculation.

But it does not prove that institutional investors are bullish, or that hedging demand has disappeared.

Differences in strike selection, expirations and methodology matter.

4. WHAT ABOUT THE VIX?

VIX measures the market's expectation of roughly 30-day volatility derived from S&P 500 index options.

It is not a real-time forecast of where the index will trade.

And it should not be confused with 7-day or 14-day implied volatility.

The key issue is whether any increase in uncertainty remains concentrated around the immediate event window or starts spreading into longer maturities.

5. WHY CRYPTO TRADERS SHOULD CARE

Bitcoin and Ethereum do not mechanically follow SPX options markets.

However, unexpected shifts in US monetary-policy expectations can influence the dollar, Treasury yields, risk appetite and leverage across asset classes.

A sharp change in macro expectations may affect crypto liquidity even when the original catalyst comes from traditional markets.

WHAT TO WATCH THIS WEEK

• SPX price action around recent trading levels.

• Whether short-term implied volatility stays elevated or declines after the FOMC announcement.

• VIX behavior relative to shorter-duration options.

• Treasury yields and the US dollar.

• BTC and ETH spot liquidity, derivatives funding and positioning.

THE TAKEAWAY

The stock market has not delivered a clear directional verdict.

But the options market is signaling that uncertainty around the next few sessions deserves a closer look.

Higher short-term IV is not the same as a bearish forecast. Falling put skew is not the same as an all-clear signal.

Read them together, not in isolation.

What do you expect after the Fed meeting: volatility cooling down, or uncertainty spreading into November?

🚨CRYPTO MACRO SUPERWEEK: FIVE DAYS THAT COULD RESET MARKET EXPECTATIONS!

Bitcoin never closes. But the biggest catalysts for its next move may come from central banks and economic data, not crypto exchanges.

October 26–30 brings a packed global macro calendar, with implications for Bitcoin, Ethereum, risk assets and the US dollar.

THE FIVE-DAY COUNTDOWN

MONDAY, OCT 26 — POSITIONING

Markets prepare for a busy week. Watch Treasury yields, the US dollar, equity futures and crypto derivatives positioning.

A quiet start does not guarantee a quiet finish.

TUESDAY, OCT 27 — US ECONOMIC DATA

US durable goods orders and new home sales are scheduled for release.

These figures offer clues about manufacturing investment, economic demand and the broader growth outlook.

The Federal Reserve also begins its two-day policy meeting.

WEDNESDAY, OCT 28 — THE FED DECISION

The Federal Reserve announces its interest-rate decision at 2:00 PM Eastern Time.

But the decision itself is only part of the story.

Markets will also assess the policy statement and signals about the future path of rates.

A surprise in expectations could move bond yields, the dollar, equities and crypto.

THURSDAY, OCT 29 — GDP + PCE INFLATION

Two major US economic releases arrive on the same day:

• Q3 GDP advance estimate.

• September Personal Income and Outlays, including PCE inflation.

GDP provides a snapshot of economic growth.

PCE inflation helps investors assess the inflation environment and future monetary-policy expectations.

Stronger growth is not automatically bullish for Bitcoin.

Higher inflation is not automatically bearish.

The market reaction depends on how the data compares with expectations.

FRIDAY, OCT 30 — BANK OF JAPAN + DERIVATIVES

The Bank of Japan concludes its October 29–30 policy meeting.

Its decision and outlook could influence the yen, global yields and international risk sentiment.

Meanwhile, Bitcoin's major monthly options expiration adds another potential source of hedging and positioning adjustments.

WHY CRYPTO TRADERS SHOULD CARE

Crypto trades around the clock, but global liquidity is heavily influenced by monetary policy and traditional financial markets.

THREE SIGNALS TO WATCH

1. US DOLLAR AND TREASURY YIELDS

Do financial conditions tighten or ease after the Fed decision?

2. SPOT DEMAND VS DERIVATIVES

Are BTC and ETH moves supported by real trading demand, or mainly driven by leverage and liquidations?

3. VOLATILITY AND MARKET DEPTH

Do major announcements produce sustainable breakouts or temporary liquidity-driven spikes?

MY TAKE

The real question is not simply whether the Fed sounds hawkish or dovish.

It is whether the week's combined events change expectations for interest rates, inflation, economic growth and risk appetite.

One headline can trigger volatility.

But sustained market direction needs confirmation.

Will Bitcoin and Ethereum emerge from macro superweek with a clearer trend, or will traders face another series of false breakouts?

🚨 **The Fed Hike May Be Priced. Bitcoin’s Next Move Depends on the Message.**

Markets are heading into the **Sept. 15–16 FOMC** with roughly **85–94% odds of a 25 bps hike**.

That would move rates:

**3.50–3.75% → 3.75–4.00%**

And mark the Fed’s **first hike since July 2023**.

But traders should remember what happened in July.

Before the meeting, markets priced almost a **79% chance of a hike**.

After Warsh’s press conference, those odds dropped toward **60%**.

Why?

Because the rate decision was already expected.

**The surprise came from the guidance.**

Now the setup is even more sensitive.

→ Core CPI: **+0.3% MoM**

→ Oil: **above $100**

→ Warsh: more hawkish after Jackson Hole

→ June dot plot: **9 members saw at least one hike, 8 saw none**

And markets are now starting to price **two hikes** this year.

That makes the post-FOMC message critical for Bitcoin.

📈 **“One and done”**

Could ease pressure on yields and risk assets.

📉 **“More tightening ahead”**

Could push yields and the dollar higher, creating another liquidity test for $BTC.

So the real FOMC trade may not be the rate decision itself.

**It may be the first few sentences after it.**

Will September bring a one-time reset — or the start of another tightening cycle?

Can $BTC break the $64.7k zone again soon?

#Bitcoin trades are trying to break through $64k and resume its hunt for the $64.7k resistance zone, and it has printed a bullish crossover on the 4H chart, with the RSI also signaling early momentum recovery.

However, in the past week, $BTC has rallied into the $64,500–$64,733 zone and got rejected all the time. Since it reached $67k on 21st July, the highest it has reached again is $65,500, which was on July 27, nearly one week after. Apparently, $BTC has been printing lower highs and lower lows since its #PPI pump, but the BULLs seem to be defending the $63k level so well and tried to absorb each dump.

Now the #FOMC came yesterday, and it was as expected, so although the market front-ran the outcome, it didn’t dump further. $BTC is not looking to recover and move upwards.

The macro and on-chain backdrop is mixed. Arthur Hayes argues that Bitcoin's sluggish price action isn't a liquidity problem; in his view, the AI investment boom is absorbing the capital that would otherwise flow into crypto, with AI-driven profits going into real estate, luxury goods, and more Nasdaq tech rather than rotating into BTC.

On the on-chain side, a Lazarus Group-linked hacker wallet moved 121.5 BTC ($7.74M), and a Bitcoin address tied to Bitminter founder Geir Harald Hansen moved 829 BTC that had sat dormant for eight years. These potential sell signals won’t do anything on $BTC, but they’re worth noting. More so, both the Lazarus and Bitminter-linked transfers could just as easily be internal wallet consolidation. Nothing here confirms sell pressure yet.

The bull case for $BTC is to push above $64.7k and keep the MACD crossover going to open the path back toward the $65,500 area. But if this resistance zone breaks again, $BTC might rotate back toward the low-$63,000s, where the broader July range floor sits.
