🚨 The kidnapping of @teufeurs’ father has led investigators to uncover an exotic animal trafficking ring in India, traced through a Venezuelan wallet. In August 2023, the Malta-based crypto influencer paid a ransom of €1.7 million in cryptocurrency to secure his father’s release after he was kidnapped in Sarthe. Three years later, French gendarmes traced $131,002 of that ransom—split across three transactions—to a Venezuelan individual linked to the world’s largest animal park in India. This same wallet appears in millions of dollars of suspicious transactions. Seven individuals will face trial. The National Prosecutor’s Office reports 88 formal investigations stemming from the current wave of crypto kidnappings, with this case serving as the starting point.

During the South Korean local elections, allegations emerged against Yoo Jeong-bok, the People Power Party candidate for Incheon mayor, regarding cryptocurrency mining. While cryptocurrency mining is legal, the issue seems to be that this occurred the day after the 12.3 martial law declaration, along with suspicions of asset concealment. I’m not particularly interested in politics, but I’m curious—just curious—about which cryptocurrency it was and the wallet address. That’s all. So far, the clues are: - Approximately 21,000 coins are said to have been mined. - The cited article mentions Ethereum, but Ethereum transitioned from proof-of-work to proof-of-stake years ago; it’s probably not Ethereum. - The value is reportedly around 500 million KRW. But 21,000 ETH at today’s price would be about 6.54 billion KRW, not 500 million. If I could find out even just the name of the coin or the wallet address, it’d be like a long-awaited on-chain detective story 😄😄

$22 BILLION → 6 MONTHS IN JAIL - Byju’s was once India’s most valuable startup. - At its peak, the company was valued at $22 billion.
- Big global investors backed it.
- People called it the future of education. Today, the founder has been sentenced to 6 months in jail by a Singapore court. Not for fraud. For ignoring court orders. Since April 2024, the court asked him many times to reveal his assets.
But he did not cooperate. He ignored court rulings, refused to disclose details, and now must surrender himself, pay $70,500 in legal costs, and explain ownership of a company called Beeaar Investco. At the same time, things got worse in the US. A Delaware court awarded more than $1 billion in judgments linked to a $1.2 billion loan.
Lenders claim the money was improperly diverted. One of the investors now chasing him in Singapore courts is Qatar Investment Authority - a sovereign wealth fund. And his current location? Unknown. He did not respond to requests for comment.
Nobody even knows if he is in Singapore right now. This is what a $22 billion collapse looks like up close. Not one bad decision. A pattern:
- Hide the assets.
- Ignore the courts.
- Keep delaying everything. The real lesson here is not about edtech. It’s about what happens when founders start treating investor money like personal money. Byju’s did not just fail. It became a case study in how not to run a company.
