Stablecoins win when people spend them, not when they hold them. @jessepollak flagged it: "14x growth in card spend on @base in one year" The tally he's sharing, from @1CrypticPoet, puts October at $259M of crypto card spend on Base. For African fintech, that's the number to watch. A freelancer in Lagos paid in USDC doesn't need another wallet. They need to pay for software, a flight or a supplier invoice without converting at a bad rate first. If I were running GTM for a stablecoin product here, the activation metric wouldn't be deposits. It would be the first card spend within a week of the first deposit, and onboarding would push straight to that moment: card issued at signup, first spend nudged toward something the user already pays for in dollars. A dollar balance is a feature. A dollar you can spend is a product. https://t.co/e6fK54hCtu
