Here is a detail about post-quantum signatures that I had not thought about: they cost more to check. The Quantum Hub says post-quantum signature checks are more expensive than common schemes. That cost has to land somewhere, and on a chain it lands on the people running the checks. Starknet's answer is built into the design: STARK proving gives it a way to absorb that extra computation. The proofs exist to handle heavy computation, which is the exact job that heavier signature checks create. Put that next to programmable accounts. An account can adopt a post-quantum verifier within Starknet's existing account model, and the proving layer is built for the cost that comes with it. The two advantages the Hub points to, STARK proving and native account abstraction, work on the same problem from two sides. A cheaper path to heavier signatures is not a finished migration. Wallet support, key management and adoption are still open work. More in the Architecture section: https://t.co/bqBqknSRIO This is one place where the design helps @Starknet as it prepares for quantum threats.
