TSLA vs $META Earnings: Two Different Problems, One Common Question

Both report this week, and both face the same test: does the story justify the margins?

$TSLA: Q2 revenue beat at $28.24B, but EPS missed at $0.33 vs $0.44 expected. Auto revenue is expected to fall 6.8% YoY in Q3, so the debate is about margins and whether non-auto stories can carry the stock. (benzinga) (spglobal)

$META: Q2 revenue grew 28% to $60.8B, but EPS fell 13% to $6.18. Capex is guided at $130B to $145B, so the debate is about how fast AI spending pays back. (247wallst) (fxleaders)

My read: Tesla's risk is slowing core demand. Meta's risk is heavy spending on a growing business. Tesla has to prove the new stories can add to earnings, while Meta has to prove the spending can pay off. I find Meta's setup easier to analyze, because its revenue growth is visible and the open question is cost.
