one of the most expensive lessons i've learned is that knowing how to make money doesn't mean you know how to keep it have rules that automatically reduce your risk after a massive winning streak, because the version of yourself that just made a lot of money isn't always the best person to decide what to do with it few things i've learned the hard way over the years that have helped: > consistently take profits out of your trading accounts and into the real world, then into places that take more effort to access (brokerage, t-bills, etc) > create friction between yourself and the buy button, using physical cold storage back in the day forced me to slow down, even that one extra button press saved me from myself (now most of my crypto sits on a cex, away from where i actively trade) > understand the state of liquidity and trust your pattern recognition, when conditions are bad, don't force trades just because you're used to playing > learn to recognize the difference between seeing an opportunity and feeling the need to find one but the biggest skill i'm still trying to master is knowing when to flip the switch from maximum aggression, sizing up and pressing the buy button without hesitation when the opportunity is there to doing absolutely nothing no forcing trades, no trying to recreate yesterday's wins, no need to be involved knowing when to play is a skill knowing when to pause play will save you millions i've probably kept 20% of all the money i've made, which isn't horrible, but even doubling that would be life changing will continue working on it intentionally
