Here it comes... BTC has dropped from $81,000 to $61,000, a decline of over 20%. The 1-week and 1-month IVs have rebounded from their earlier lows to 60% and 47%, respectively. Volatility is now materializing. This downturn was triggered by multiple factors, but the structure of IV at low levels had already laid the "fuse"—any unexpected event would automatically activate the amplification mechanism. Moving forward, if the market has fully priced in these moves and short-term volatility expectations return to normal, the likelihood of the market entering a consolidation phase increases. If IV rises again but then falls back into low territory, re-establishing a state of "excessive calm," it’s likely that the fuse for a new wave of volatility is once again being prepared. One point worth emphasizing again: IV never predicts direction—it only forecasts magnitude.
