The Hyperbridge hack runs parallel to Polkadot's security model. In Hyperbridge, a forged proof executed privileged operations and drained the entire bridge. Polkadot has the same model and is subject to the same attack -- a bug in the Hub parachain can break the entire relay chain. In @jarchain, we're developing some defence-in-depth methods that will make this types of attacks basically impossible, drawing ideas from microkernel security models. We'll share our design soon.
