1. What is Phishing Website Fraud?
A phishing website is a type of online scam where criminals fabricate the URL and page design of a legitimate website to trick users into entering sensitive information, such as account credentials, passwords, private keys, or mnemonic phrases, thereby stealing their assets.

2. Common Scamming Methods

Method 1:
In digital asset trading, fraudsters often use bait such as "arbitrage opportunities," "high returns," "airdrop rewards," or "listing events" to publish fake information on phishing websites to lure users into clicking.

Criminals use methods like airdrops, rebates, and other incentives to entice users into clicking phishing links or entering phishing websites via QR codes. These phishing sites often closely mimic legitimate websites, deceiving users into believing they are on the official platform and leading them to fraudulent content. Once users enter a phishing website, their account assets may be stolen.

Method 2:
Scammers impersonate platform customer support staff and contact users privately via chat software, claiming issues related to platform accounts, sending phishing links, or guiding users step-by-step over voice calls/messages to enter their account and fund passwords on phishing websites, thus stealing their assets.

3. How to Prevent Phishing Website Fraud?

Identifying the Website:
The DNS system ensures the uniqueness of domain names, making it almost impossible for users to access a fake site if the domain is legitimate. Therefore, the following methods can help you identify phishing websites:

  1. The platform reminds users not to click on suspicious links from unofficial channels or visit unsecure websites, and to avoid entering account details, passwords, or personal information on these websites to prevent phishing sites or malicious software from stealing your data.

  2. When logging into a website, try not to use search engines to access it. It's recommended to manually type in the website address. The official KuCoin website is: www.kucoin.com (It’s advised to use Google Chrome).

  3. If you accidentally enter a phishing website, immediately contact platform customer support for assistance to avoid unnecessary losses. You can contact platform customer support in the following ways: on the web, go to the Help Center and click "Contact Us" at the bottom; for iOS, tap the customer service icon in the top right of the app; for Android, go to "Personal Center" > "Help Center" > "Online Customer Service."

Identifying Official Personnel:
  1. If you receive communication from someone claiming to be an "official representative" via phone, email, website, or WeChat, you can verify their authenticity through KuCoin's official verification channels.

  2. KuCoin provides an anti-phishing code feature for emails/SMS. You can set it up by going to the "Personal Center" > "Security Settings" > "Anti-Phishing Code" in the app. Once set, any email or SMS sent by KuCoin will include the anti-phishing code you've set. If the email/SMS lacks this code, it may be a fraudulent phishing message.

Friendly Reminder:
If you accidentally click on a phishing website:

  1. Immediately change your login password and transaction password.
  2. If your mnemonic phrase or private key has been exposed, transfer your assets to a new wallet as soon as possible.
  3. Contact official customer support and freeze your account (if necessary).
