Stellar Protocol 30 upgrade
Nov 3, Stellar's Protocol 30 upgrade 'Bell' is live on Testnet, introducing post-quantum signatures and smart account tools. Mainnet vote scheduled for Nov 23, 2026.

Changing the locks without rebuilding the building Think of a building. The locks on the doors decide who can open them. The foundation and the structural beams decide whether the building is sound. On Starknet those two jobs are separate. Signatures are the locks. They authorise a transaction; they prove that the right person (or the right smart contract) approved it. STARK proofs are the foundation. They verify that the computation itself was done correctly. They don’t care which lock was used; they only care that the result is valid. Because accounts on @Starknet are programmable smart contracts (native account abstraction), the “lock” can be changed without touching the foundation. A new account implementation can use a different signature method, like a post-quantum signature scheme, without needing a network-wide upgrade or a hard fork. The proving system stays the same. It’s like being able to swap the locks on every door in a building for a new type of lock, without having to rebuild the walls or the foundation. That flexibility exists today.

Ethereum: Native privacy is already planned for 2028—and almost no one is talking about it. Day 1 of Devcon 8 in Mumbai revealed what Ethereum is truly working on: 🔹 Vitalik Buterin: Privacy, security, and decentralized systems are becoming increasingly critical in the AI era. 🔹 Kohaku: Private ETH transactions will soon be natively available in wallets—without complex add-on applications. 🔹 Quantum Security: Justin Drake aims to transition to a fully quantum-resistant and AI-robust infrastructure by the end of 2028—an ambitious goal, not a confirmed deadline. 🔹 Faster Transactions: New consensus designs aim to reduce finality from minutes to seconds in the long term. 🔹 AI & Blockchain: How can AI agents be integrated without requiring blind trust in their developers? My takeaway: Ethereum is focused not on short-term hype, but on building the infrastructure for the coming decades. But is technological progress enough to sustainably increase ETH’s value? #Ethereum #ETH #Devcon

Ethereum Foundation researcher Justin Drake said Bitcoin may eventually freeze lost coins, including Satoshi’s, to protect them from a future quantum attack. He estimates that 10% to 15% of all bitcoin is lost, compared with less than 1% of ether that would face the same risk. Drake expects Bitcoin to intervene and freeze those coins, while Ethereum takes a more hands-off approach.

🚨 Solana Co-founder Warns: The Greatest Threat to Cryptocurrencies Is Not Quantum Computing or AI! Anatoly Yakovenko believes phishing and social engineering pose a more immediate danger to users than attacks against cryptographic technology. 🔐 His security proposal combines established tools with an additional layer of protection. solana:So11111111111111111111111111111111111111112

The Bitcoin quantum debate is trapped in a false binary: freeze the coins or let an attacker take them There is a third path Disable the old, quantum-unsafe spend route 💡 Leave open a permissionless recovery door for the legitimate owner, using proof of possession that existed before the cutoff, which an attacker cannot forge after the fact No custodian. No committee. No central key Just cryptographic evidence of prior control Coins wait behind a door only the original owner can open Protect the asset. Preserve the owner ✅ #Bitcoin #QuantumComputing
