Hardware wallet backend breaches
Foundation's Passport wallet warns of phishing emails linked to a compromised Cloudflare API key. Keystone reveals 25,964 purchase records and WebAuth keys were accessed via a third-party tool vulnerability on Oct 20.

🚨 $ICP ♾️🔥 HARDWARE WALLET SECURITY WARNING — WHEN THE VERIFICATION SYSTEM ITSELF IS COMPROMISED! 🔐 ⚠️ ANOTHER SERIOUS WARNING FOR THE CRYPTO INDUSTRY! @KeystoneWallet reportedly disclosed that a hardware wallet verification key was stolen, potentially allowing counterfeit devices to pass official authenticity checks. According to the company’s statement: 🔴 A device-verification key was compromised. 🔴 Counterfeit hardware could potentially pass authenticity checks. 🟢 Wallet private keys were not reported as exposed. 🟢 Recovery phrases were not reported as exposed. 🟢 Devices purchased before 20 October are reportedly unaffected. 🔥 THINK ABOUT THE IMPLICATIONS! Hardware wallets are designed to help protect digital assets from online threats. But what happens when the system responsible for verifying the hardware itself becomes a point of failure? The issue is not necessarily a compromised blockchain. It is a compromised TRUST MECHANISM! 🚨 AND THIS IS WHY CRYPTOGRAPHIC SECURITY MATTERS MORE THAN EVER! ♾️ ENTER $ICP BY DFINITY! The Internet Computer is developing a fundamentally different architecture for digital trust and decentralised computing. 🔐 CHAIN-KEY CRYPTOGRAPHY Cryptographic verification is central to how the Internet Computer operates. 🛡️ INTERNET IDENTITY Passkey-based authentication reduces dependence on conventional passwords. 🌐 CERTIFIED DATA Applications can provide cryptographic evidence that data originates from the expected canister. ₿ CHAIN FUSION Smart contracts can interact with supported external blockchains using threshold cryptography. ☁️ DECENTRALISED COMPUTING Applications can run directly on replicated blockchain infrastructure. 🗳️ NNS GOVERNANCE Protocol changes are managed through on-chain governance. 🔥 BUT HERE IS THE CRITICAL DISTINCTION! No blockchain, hardware wallet or cryptographic system is immune to compromised keys, malicious devices or implementation vulnerabilities. Even ICP users must protect their recovery phrases, authentication devices and identities. However, the Internet Computer demonstrates how cryptographic verification can be integrated deeply into application and network architecture. ♾️ THE FUTURE OF DIGITAL SECURITY MUST BE BUILT AROUND VERIFIABLE TRUST! Not blind faith in a manufacturer. Not blind faith in a centralised server. Not blind faith in a single verification process. 🔥 THE CRYPTO INDUSTRY NEEDS STRONGER SECURITY ARCHITECTURE! 🔥 BETTER KEY MANAGEMENT! 🔥 INDEPENDENT VERIFICATION! 🔥 DECENTRALISED INFRASTRUCTURE! 🔥 DIGITAL SOVEREIGNTY! And these are precisely the conversations where $ICP deserves far greater recognition. 👏 Massive respect to @dfinity, @dominic_w and @PierreSamaties for advancing cryptographic innovation. 🇨🇭 $ICP — THE SWISS ARMY KNIFE OF BLOCKCHAIN TECHNOLOGY! @KeystoneWallet @dfinity @dominic_w @PierreSamaties @Marmightlite @Ledger @Trezor @OpenAI @GoogleCloud @Microsoft @Cloudflare @BlackRock @jpmorgan @GoldmanSachs @GOVUK @EU_Commission #ICP #InternetComputer #DFINITY #HardwareWallet #CyberSecurity #ChainKey #InternetIdentity #ChainFusion #DigitalSovereignty #Blockchain #Web3 #Decentralization IT’S ABOUT ❤️ Like 🔁 Repost & share 💬 Comment 🏴 Welsh ICP Conviction @ICPLEGEND1966 ♾️ $ICP Donation Address: 1e672d038cebc619d93186418fa98f6499dbdb9cfdfac54f366c61a4a4ee4362

The "StealMyBitcoin" challenge, which involved deliberately exposing a vulnerable PHP server and attempting to steal the Bitcoin private key stored on it, has been breached. Approximately 19 hours and 28 minutes after the challenge began, an unauthenticated remote code execution was successfully carried out using what is known as "PHP2Shell," resulting in the theft of Bitcoin worth $2,000.

Cloudflare has also been affected by the eMudhra private key "4" issue, so users of Cloudflared should update immediately. Core Lightning has also issued a notice indicating a minor impact. Since users have no way of knowing which TLS implementation their apps use, this is a critical moment for wallets and exchange applications.

Keystone will destroy 18,835 unsold hardware wallets after attackers compromised its WebAuth device authentication key. The breach, detected on October 20, also exposed personal information across 25,964 buyer records and 12,873 unpaid checkout records due to an exploited third-party tool. Keystone stated that recovery phrases, private keys, and wallet credentials were not involved, while device shipments remain paused until production switches to a replacement key.

It will soon become standard to prepare for hacking risks and asset protection. Smartphones are convenient, but how many different types of apps—financial, crypto, social media, hobbies—are you actually installed? It’s like having your refrigerator filled with food, shoes, and books all mixed together. Even I have been using separate phones for years—one for finance, another for social media—but it’s still not safe. I’ve even considered retiring entirely from digital life, including social media. To avoid regret, it may be crucial to recognize that we now live in an era where you must take responsibility for updating your knowledge and improving your digital literacy.
